I hope this posting finds everyone in good humor. It is my first and only post inquiring about our site's submission status.

I submitted many months ago our site, forgive me I can't remember the catagory. I would like to know if I should re-submit.... or will it be included shortly?

Thank you

I did not check your submission, as I do not have permissions in that part of the directory.

However......

A quick peek at your site makes me doubt it is listable where you submitted.

The essence of the Regional section of the directory is that sites are (almost always) listed on the basis of where the company has a physical presence. In other words, we care about where the company has its offices, not where it markets it services.

No where on your site is there any indication as to where your office is located, and without that information, given the rich history of duplicity we have seen with travel related site, we can only assume that you are ineligible for a regional listing.

We live and are based in Las Vegas

We live and are based in Las Vegas, NV USA. We are just like all those other sites listed in that directory. We have a 1-877 #, but we do business out of Las Vegas. That's how we can book Grand Canyon, hoover dam and las vegas tours. Do we have to live in the grand canyon to sell a grand canyon tour? I Suppose you can always do a "who is" on the domain, that would also show you. Please list us, we are a reputable online tour operator based out of Las Vegas, selling tours to the grand canyon, hoover dam and las vegas.

We also have an extensive photo library of 400 + photos of the grand canyon, and a very popular blog. we are also ranked quite nicely in yahoo. We are for real.

Thank you

OK, I believe you, but....

(Now don't shoot the messenger)

We use the web site as the basis for determining where one is located, and I could find absolutely nothing on the web site that indicates that you are not located in a damp basement in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and there is (at present) no way that a reviewing editor can make that determination.

So we are faced with a quandary that you could easily resolve by putting your address somewhere on the website, otherwise I would not hold out much hope since the odds of the reviewing editor seeing this thread are quite slim. Less than one could get on the Big Wheel.

Your submission has been received and is awaiting review. If you don't see it listed sometime in the next six months, please feel free to return for a status update on or after 13 January.

I am sorry to be a bother, i'll be brief.

I submitted a few months back: http://www.paradisefoundtours.com

to

http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_Amer...s_and_Economy/Travel_Services/Tour_Operators/

I have retooled my site to adhere to strict dmoz guidelines, however I may have submitted the title wrong (keyword heavy instead of company name), thus not getting included. I can't remember...

The Title should be : Paradise Found Tours

Should I resubmit?

Also we do have a business address up on the site, located at.

Thank you for listening.

Not worth your effort. Changing submitted titles happens 99% of the time, and is not going to slow consideration of your submission.

Personal comment: nice job on the about us page. Tell Rick that this particular editor said" "Welcome Home Brother" and gave him a "virtual hug".

Hi Spectre,

It's August and still no listing....I'm on war rations here, I really could use this listing to get some business and to get some food on my table....

I was noodling to see what other catagory I could go in, and when I went to visit:

http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Travel/Tour_Operators/

Soon as I click on North America I'm in Regional, so That seems to be the only place to be...

Still crossing fingers..

Michael

Well, we can't tell you anything more than what donwiebe already said - you are eligible for another status report about your site on or after Jan 13 (if you haven't seen it listed before then.) {moz}

I don't get it, I never had these problems a year ago. My site conforms to all guidelines, why do we have to wait 6 months to only get another status report, the same effrot it takes the admin to write that "it is in the que" could be used to forward the listing into the directory.

What is the hold up? I'm gonna be homeless soon, if this listing doesn't kick in soon... Please list me already.....so I can go away happy.... =) Pretty please....?

That 6 month waiting period is only between status requests here. It doesn't have anything to do with how long it will take your site to get listed! (You can read more about the decision to ask our submitters to wait sic months here: http://resource-zone.com/forum/announcement.php?f=42 - it is a rule that was implemented only a few months ago.) Somebody might be reviewing your site as I type, or it could lie waiting for another year or several; that was true before the 6-moth rule was set up and it is true now.

the same effrot it takes the admin to write that "it is in the que" could be used to forward the listing into the directory.

That's not quite true :) Sites that are added, whether they have been suggested by the public or found by an editor, must first be reviewed, which can take 10-30 minutes depending on the site - and site review is not the purpose of this forum! We really must stick to that rule, or else we'd be swamped with requests - and it would be unfair to give priority review to sites just because their web masters have found their way to Resource-Zone!

Finally, we tell all anxious web masters not to depend on a listing in the ODP for their business. Since it is completely unpredictable when a site will be reviewed, and there is no guarantee it will be listed after review (that's a general statement - I haven't looked at your site) it would be a bad business decision to rely on us. There are many, many places out there you can submit your site to. You should do that, and in the meantime, sooner or later your site will be reviewed (almost certainly by somebody who hasn't seen this discussion!)

Best regards

accidentally submitted my catagory fixes to a public forum, i meant to submit privately, but it got moved by a moderator, who I think was upset by the hard work that I had done. I spent many hours making that report, I just want to make sure it's being looked at. I can private mesage it again to any editor who cares?
Why would a moderator be "upset by the hard work" you'd done? It was removed from the public forum because it didn't belong in the public forum. Removal from the public forum does not mean deletion...and certainly does not mean an upset moderator.

mboyd, the post was moved out of public site, but it is still visible to editors. It looks to me like you put a lot of work into it -- I personally appreciate that: I hope someone takes it as an impetus to start working in that category, and takes it into consideration when deciding what sites to review first. (It is something I would do if I had time, which I haven't ... yet.)

Well someone did work on the catagory, but didn't take a few extra minutes to add my listing. I'm very disappointed in the process here.
