Hello All,

Looking for status http://www.gasscooters.net to

http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Motorcycles/Scooters/Dealers/

as there was no editor when I submitted.

I also wanted to know if I should resubmit to this section http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Sports/Boarding/Skateboarding/Scooters/Motorized/ or if it is automatically put in this section too. I don't want to make extra work for the editors.

The site doesn't appear to be waiting in http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Motorcycles/Scooters/Dealers/ , nor has it been touched by an editor.

When did you submit? Did you get an error message?

As far as the other cat you mention, the site probably won't be listed in both. I don't know much about these areas, but this looks like it might be a little overlap. I'd suggest a single submission to the most appropriate topical category. If you maintain a physical presence somewhere, you might be eligible for a listing in Regional as well (underneath your locality).

umm, thanks for the reply. Since you are using the word "hopper", does that mean there are a lot of submissions for the category? Do they need another editor? I would be willing to volunteer if they need one

The word "hopper" was chosen to convey the fact that site submissions are not arranged in any order -- the words "list" and "queue" are often misunderstood to convey the opposite; but any mental picture you have of a "hopper" should have the chips jostling and bouncing around at random as they slide toward the funnel.

It conveys nothing about the size of the "heap", but in this case over a hundred sites are waiting review. That makes the category too big for a new editor.

It doesn't carry any meaning

Hmm. Maybe the category should be broken down by continent. That might make some of the subcategories small enough for a new editor. Would you be willing to start out on a foreign country category?

Hello ODP Editors,

It has now been over 6 weeks since my submission of http://www.gasscooters.net to http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Motorcycles/Scooters/Dealers/

All we sell is gas scooters, electric scooters, and some gas skateboards. I would think that my site would be added right away since the domain is gasscooters.net and that we sell gas scooters. Am I wrong? It has been awhile.

Well, as you know, each suggested site needs to be looked at by an editor and reviewed before it's added, and there's no telling how long that process will take in each individual case.

Your site is waiting for review together with over one hundred other submissions for that particular category. Sorry not to have better news. :flower:

I have not looked at your submission -- someone with correct permissions will have to do that. I do want to take a minute and set your expectations: The average time it takes for a site to be reviewed by an editor is from two minutes (for the very lucky) and more than two years for the very unlucky.

Once your submission is in the pool, the only thing you cando to influence that is to make sure that when an editor does take a look at your site, they find lots and lots of unique content that can easily be found by a surfer.
