"Suggest URL" resulting in Proxy error

It's an AOL issue and they're aware of the problem. See this thread.

I suggest that you wait a few days, by when we hope all will be well again.

I've been getting this error for over a month now. I've used different machines, different times and days, shutting down McAfee first, etc., to no avail. Perhaps it's time DMOZ got a REAL host instead of depending on AOL. This has been going on since 2006, from what I can tell from this forum.

AOL own us, provide the hosting and pay for the running costs. Getting an alternative host isn't an option.

I'm not an editor but I have a site to suggest in a specific category and everytime I select the suggest url link, I get a proxy error.
What is happening here in that regard?

We're having some server issues right now that might be the cause of your specific troubles. Try again in a day or two. Otherwise, just follow the advice given earlier in this thread.
