cashn4profits.com sent a thread on 5/20/04 @ 3:51 p.m. but I don't see it listed under the site status listing. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong, and should I resubmit my question? However, I see it under my Private Messages. There are 2 total threads and 0 unread. I went in on 5/23/04 and read what was in my Private Message. How do I get an answer to my questions regarding Site Submission Status? What do I do?

I'm not sure what you are asking, but it probably doesn't matter. Give us a clickable link to the OPD category where you submitted, and we'll take a look and giv eyou a status check.

cashn4profits.com is not waiting for review in either category. Please note that it is not a Games site, so if you resubmit please do not submit to Games.

I recommend that you take a look at our Editorial Guidelines about what kind of sites are listable in the ODP, in particular as regards unique content. I didn't review your site, but from what I saw there was no unique content at all there. (Note that this is not a site review - your site has not been denied inclusion - but if the reviewing editor can't find unique content on your site it will not be listed when it is reviewed.)

Please note the url (www.cashn4profits.com/html/gamesgold.html) is a CD-ROM filled with over 500 games for children and old alike. Please review.
The other url - (www.cashn4profits.com/html/startbiz.html) is a CD-ROM for new beginning business owners where they will get insight into large amount of informational resources for business start-up

This is the reason why these 2 urls are listed separately so viewers/customers will have the advantage of finding what they're looking for

Regarding the unique content there are 8 CD-ROM selections that have enormous amount of resource for guidance, education, business toolbox, and a touch of fun aka:games to release the tension. Once you review this website you will see we are trying to appeal to a large variety of customers who truly need our resources.

Are you suggesting that I resubmit my sites? Have you taken a chance to review the information that I submitted? If I'm not submitting the right title language or proper information please let me no so I can correct.

Thanks, cashN4Profits

ps CashN4Profits is a site that wholesale and distribute CD-ROMs

We don't list individual product pages, so these two deeplinks will certainly not be listed anywhere. Do not submit them. In such cases only the main URL should be submitted to the most appropriate category. Submissions to several categories will be considered spamming.

Please review.
Posting in this forum will not expedite any reviews. We just give status information or answer questions.

eagerly awaiting response - 6/6/04 thread

Based on the information that was submitted to me via email I resubmitted my url to the following category http://dmoz.org/Computers/Software/Retailers/ as of Wed, June 9, 04.

Because I resubmitted does this mean that it will take longer for my site to be reviewed, or will it be determined based on prior submissions?

Hope this information for CashN4Profits.com gets me in the door for review.

Then you are welcome to return to this thread and ask for status - please bookmark the thread for future reference - some time after July 9, 04.

There is never a way to determine how long it will take a site to be reviewed, but since we haven't seen any prior submissions this is the one your review will be based on.

Discussions at R-Z have no influence on the time to review sites in the ODP. It is very unlikely that the reviewing editor for your site will be somebody who has read this discussion. Again I urge you to make any unique content you may have visible on your site - mentioning it here won't influence your review.

Hope that clarifies things.

what is a status check?

Is there anyway to see a status of the viewers to my site aka....I see that I have 157 views, I know that if the viewer wants to send me a note they would send an email. I know that I have received a large amount of e's however they aren't related to my url. Curious to know the system and measure any coorelation between the e's I receive and listing to this organizaton. I'm still in the learning mode.

I'm not sure what you're talking about, but the chances of an ODP editor sending you an e-mail are probably less than 1 in 10,000. And if you're not talking about e-mail from ODP editors, you're asking people who wouldn't know the answer.

I see that I have 157 views
This is just the number of times this thread has been viewed and is completely unrelated to the review of your website.

This response is not the complete answer to this thread

I don't understand how you only respond to 1/2 of the thread and instead of the entire thread. I'm trying to learn what does the view listing indicate. Is there anyway that one can desifer what type of viewers are reading my posts? If I can decifer who is looking at my post then I can get a hint into the effectiveness of my site, or is this a misnomer in my conception of what this forum is all about? So am I searching under the wrong haystack, to get a better understanding of this organization and who/what is representive of this forum? Is there a way to understand who is submitting to these forums, are they more business in nature or are they varied across the board? The emails that are sent to my email cashn4profits@yahoo.com is seems that the smiles that are used included with the emails that I have received, so is this just a hunch or are they legimitate guestomets that I have noticed? I'm not making any comparisons between views and review of my site.

The view listings means that N number of people have looked at the discussion thread. They may be editors, they include yourself, they may be other submitters in desperate search of a clue, they may be spammers looking for a chink in our armor, they may be slimy submitters hoping to catch us in an inconsistency that they can exploit. We really don't know who they are and we really don't care.

Who looks at your postings in this forum and what happens to your site review are totally, absolutely unrelated. Odds are that none of the editors, editalls, meta or administrators who have looked at your thread will even touch your suggested URL. Case in point, I have 1,200 or so postings, and I can think of maybe three cases where I actually edited the site in question.

This forum is an authorized but independent effort of the ODP editing community. It was started by a team of our Meta Editors (the highest and most trusted level of editors). There are a couple of hundred active editors who participate here out of the approximately 10,000 active ODP directory editors.

the purpose of this forum is to provide two way communication between editors and submitters. No editing actions are intended to be taken as a result of postings in this forum, with the exception of the abuse forum, where valid postings usually generate nearly immediate action by the seniormost editors.

Some editors will, on occasion take an action as a result of a posting here, but it is usually an action that protects the integrity of the directory -- which means we don't list or review sites as a result of postings here. It also means that there is a very slim chance that the editor who does review a given site will have seen the forum postings. People who behave very badly in this forum do get noticed, though.

I doubt that the e-mails you are receiving are from active editors. We avoid sending e-mails to submitters unless it is absolutely, positively necessary.

Where did my site submission status go? When I reviewed the submission stats my listing indicates that it has been moved. What does that mean?

This thread has become difficult to understand - let me try and summarize.

1. In your last post When I reviewed the submission stats my listing indicates that it has been moved. - I have no ideas what you are saying, please clarify what you are trying to ask.

2. As far as your main URL - on 05-28-2004, 05:27 AM post #7, you were told it was not where you said, and you should resubmit it. However, the implication was that it was doubtfull your site would be listed. In post 06-10-2004, 11:54 AM you said you resubmiited - so it's much too soon to get an answer on that.

3. As far as the deep links - you were told 06-06-2004, 05:16 PM post#10 - not to submit them.
