Given the fact that this category was last edited today with a total of only 5 listings, I would expect some responsible editor while editing/changing whatever, at least checking the remaining listings, otherwise quit editing IMHO

If I fix a spelling error or add a listing or delete a listing or remove a word (or any other action that only touches one listing and changes the date on the bottom), I typically won't go through all the other listings in a category. It really doesn't matter if there are two listings or two hundred listings.

As you are aware, editors are free to edit where they want (which categories interest them), so it is quite possible that someone with higher permissions found a site that was miss-suggested or even discovered one on their own that belonged to that category.

Meta's, editalls, and top level category editors could title, describe and list a good site without having ever visited the category itself. If I found a good site today that would fit in a Nuuk, Greenland I am free to title, describe and list it from my dashboard (see http://dmoz.org/erz/features/dashboard/index.html in the help section for information on editors dashboards) and never look at the listed sites or category in question. So having a "greater sense of responsibility" really can't apply here.

Many times in response to your posts in this thread I have done many such edits. In each of those cases there might be sites needing work in the target categories but since my only interst at that time was taking care of the known issue-I had no interest in looking. In some cases, when one problem is pointed out I notice others and that leads to an interest in cleaning an entire category but neither imo means showing more responsibility.

I am one who truly appreciates your help in locating problem urls (especially in Regional where I am most active), but there really isn't a need to inject personal digs at unknown editors for their actions or opinions on their lack of action. There is nothing productive obtained from it.

but another listing in World: Deutsch: Regional is absolutely OK.

I should explain that where a site that has no English version is removed from the English-language directory, the normal procedure is to send the site to be reviewed in the appropriate category in World (unless it is already listed there).

A bi-lingual or multi-lingual editor with access to both categories might write a new description in the appropriate language and list it immediately in World. But that's quite unusual. In this case I didn't send the site over initially, because it was already listed in World, but you are perfectly correct that two listings are appropriate here.

Normally I do not attempt to write descriptions in German, which I have never learned and find difficult. But just this once I used the meta description, as it looked straightforward and factual.

#2074 There is an active editor in Regional: Europe: Italy: Arts and Entertainment and almost nothing waiting to be reviewed there. You could suggest a site if you feel it would be a good addition, but please use the 'suggest a site' feature, rather than this thread.

I'm very happy if people posting here about dead links, etc can point to a live replacement. It is also helpful to suggest a better category for a listing that seems misplaced. But I'm sure that you will understand that if this thread came to be seen as a quick way to a listing, if would be rapidly swamped with requests and would have to be closed down.
