3rd Entry From Top

Message indicates a “revamped” site will be coming in early 2007. This suggests the message went up sometime in 2006. It’s now mid 2007. Why am I thinking the domain is for sale, or waiting to be hijacked?

Playstation Driving Games - Contains a forum, reviews, tips, and ability to submit best times.

Hi!

In searching:

http://www.dmoz.org/Games/Roleplaying/

I came across the following issue I wanted to bring to your attention:

20th Entry From Top

I'm not sure if category stuffing is the correct word but both sites, the 20th and 21st entry are owned and operated by the same entity.

RPG Host - Large resource site, includes roleplaying archives, site and product reviews, newsletter, contests, forums, postcard and dice servers, extendable interactive stories, player listings, several online and PBeM games and worlds, Fellowship free site hosting.

If you "wwhois" the domain, you see:

Administrative Contact: JAMES MATHE (C6C9P) webmaster@rpghost.com

21st Entry From Top

RPG News - Roleplaying News. Also features Interviews, fan sites and company spotlights.

If you "whois" the rpgnews.com domain, it's the same person, company and hosting server as in the previous entry.

Administrative Contact, Technical Contact: MATHE, JAMES info@rpghost.com

If you go to rpgnews.com, in addition to the colors fonts and graphics being the same as in rpghost.com, clicking on any of the links across the top of the homepage will take you directly to rpghost.com, the site listed in the prior ODP entry.

- #3115 done, thanks. (found new URL)

TSChild,

Question about reporting quality issues:

1.)
In your experience, how long should we wait from detecting a dead link until reporting it. The last series of posts I made, I waited 48 hours to make sure they were really dead before reporting them. After reporting them, I noticed the next day that a couple of them had revived either on their own or anonymously by an editor. It's sort of embarrassing to me to have this happen.

2.)
I don't have problems finding issues with entries in categories not having an assigned editor. Should I report them here?. There are so many categories without an editor and I seldom experience problems going through a category and finding dead and hijaked links. I just want to make sure I'm reporting issues to the proper forum.

3.)
When going through categories for which there is an editor assigned, should I report the issues to the category editor, report them here, or both?

I'd think your 48 hours is fine for letting us know. Our internal error checking tools run rechecks around 2 weeks after an error is first identified by them, but we don't expect that time frame as an absolute value. I can't speak for other editors that work from these threads, but when I do if a site is not available, I remove it from public view, but leave it for rechecking at a future time, unless there is evidence of it being down for a while.

2) and 3) Reporting them here is fine, as is using the 'update listing' feature from the category, Reporting to a specific editor could be a problem, even if the editor is active - your report might get sent the day after they leave for a 3 month trek in Nepal. Here they are likely to be acted on by someone relatively quickly.

That's been my experience with this last batch of issues I reported. One editor responded and was excellent to work with.
