While checking the Directory to seeing if my site was added to the http://www.dmoz.org/Recreation/Pets/Dogs/Breeds/Toy_Group/Maltese/Breeders/ category, I noticed that there are some issues with the following sites that are listed there:

Going through the category http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/India/Assam/Travel_and_Tourism/ I have found the listed site http://www.assamcompany.com/ is not related to Travel or Tourism of the state Assam, India. Instead, the site, listed there, is a commercial site, wrongly listed in that category with misleading description.
Kindly have a look.

If I search for the site, again I can find it listed under the same category, but going to that category I can not find. What is the issue, I want to know.

By the way, that is a a never existed company which is being presented by virtually only.

@RbizSolutions - Sites removed from the directory usually show up in our search for at least a week, in Google for several, and on the Internet for years.
FYI the content of that site was different in 2001and would have been listable there at that time

Reason: The listed site(actually a page in real) is not related to the category "Society & Culture" by any mean. In fact the listed page and it's main website is related to Politics, War & Counter-Insurgency operation.

My heart blows for this listing, because I am also from the state Assam of India. How do DMOZ considers Insurgency, Counter-Insurgency, Terrorism, Killing etc information as relevant to 'Society and Culture' of a Region or Nation?

Sorry if I did any offence by this appeal.

We list sites like that under "Society" which becomes "Society and Culture" under Regional (I agree with you this has nothing to do with culture).
The content on the linked page "Assam Assessment 2010" relates to the area, Assam, in which it is listed.
It doesn't fall foul of the relevant guideline so imo remains listable, although the description could clearly be improved upon (done).
See http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/India/Society_and_Culture/ to get an idea of the wide range of subjects which fit in "Society and Culture".

But I do have the honor to stat again that the listed site link can be moved to the http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/India/Assam/Government/ like category as the listed page, hence the listed site completely under Government's own property. The listed site is the research based portal on Insurgency/Terrorism of South East Asia & the research committee is under Indian Government.

Hi.

I hope I'm going about this in the correct manner - so please forgive any inadvertent clumsiness on my part if I'm not.

I've noticed one or two issues with some links in the "Heavy Timber Construction: Timber Framing" section of the directory:
(www.dmoz.org/ .. blah blah .. /Heavy_Timber_Construction/Timber_Framing)

1. Misty Isle Log and Timber Frame Homes - leads to a page displaying the following "Thank You for visiting, but we are closing the site" before redirecting to another site advertising heat exchangers.

2. Muskoka Timber Frame Co does not appear to be a timber framing company as much as a local business, tourism and website design directory.

3. Smoky Mountain Artisan Homes redirects to http://www.hybridsteelframing.com/, which is held on a "1&1 Internet" parking page.

4. Timber Quest does not load - when I tried validating it on W3C for a look at the source, it returned 90 errors and 1 warning.
