#1070 dealt with, thanks.

Sites which appear to be down temporarily can be moved into unreviewed to be checked later. That is what I have done in this case.

How http://www.blinds-2go.co.uk/ controls the windows categories in DMOZ

It is obvious that http://www.blinds-2go.co.uk/
controls the category “windows” http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/Uni...and_Economy/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Windows/
because they have managed to introduce a one page website
http://www.blindslink.co.uk/
which is called “The Directory of Manufacturers and Suppliers of Window Blinds” but it only contains a link to another website of blinds-2go.co.uk . How is it possible to introduce a one page website if the category is not controlled?

They also control http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Windows/Window_Coverings/Blinds/
because they have listed http://www.mailorderblinds.co.uk/
that redirects to another website of blinds-2go.co.uk the
http://www.blinds-bar.co.uk/
. Oh it seems that they want to edit all the windows categories in the DMOZ because on
http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/Uni...nce/Materials_and_Supplies/Doors_and_Windows/
they have managed to list another website
http://www.verticall-window-blinds.co.uk/
that redirects to
http://www.blinds-bar.co.uk/ a website of blinds-2go.co.uk. I am sorry but I think in this case blinds-2go.go.co.uk is the offender.

#1074 - Please bear in mind that websites can change owners and /or content. It is one of the huge problems that any directory faces. An editor can list a site in good faith as a directory. Then it is bought up and becomes a doorway page.

As you can see in the Internet Archive http://web.archive.org/web/20020119111215/http://www.blindslink.co.uk/ was a directory for years. Similarly, you can check for yourself that when the two other sites were listed in 2001, neither was redirecting anywhere.

We certainly want to know when something like this has happened. The listings have been removed.

Secondly no single editor can control a category. Even if an editor is listed for a category, any editor in categories above can also edit there, plus all the 300 or so editors who have permissions throughout the directory.

All these sites were listed by different editors. They were looked at for various reasons by a bunch of other editors, but not recently, which is why these switches had not been picked up. So thanks for letting us know.

Item 1076:

The Linux for Beginners won't work, because it is not in English.

I didn't change the Open Source Educational Society/University listing - that's just to a default page and we don't list those.

Thanks very much for the heads-up! I have dealt with them.

A few problems in: http://dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/Thailand/Health/

1. Asia Ayurveda International looks more like a hotel, in fact it's really called Health Oasis Resort and has health programs.

2. Balavi Natural Health Center has a new url at http://www.balavi.com/

3. Body Guard Condoms, large size can't be found.

4. The two Samui sites - should they not be in Samui? Also looking further, the 2nd wants you to go from http://www.hipreplacesurgery.com/ to http://www.cosmeticsurgerythailand.com/ which also happens to be the 1st Samui entry (Samui Clinic). So, same company listed twice in a row here in Health.

5. Society of Plastic..... restates the very long title in the description.

6. Spa and massage..... a very long title.

And while I'm at it, in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/Thailand/Maps_and_Views/

1. A Lovely World... Chiang is misspelled. (In my view, so is Sukhothai, but at least the site is internally consistent with Sukhotai)

2. Thailand Maps consists of a number of external links on its left-hand navigation panel, the first two of which are already listed. I didn't check the others, but it looks like there are some redundant listings here.

3. Thailand Photo Gallery now has over 500, not just 237, images and is everyone convinced they are all "high quality"?

4. Treasures of Thailand has a new url at http://www.xs4all.nl/~devadeep/ and also has over 1,000 images rather than the listed 400.

#1078 dealt with thanks, except for Speedread. Looks like that may be a temporary problem.
