Waiting to index?

Hi,

It appears that Gemologica may have recently been added to DMOZ and is waiting for a site refresh to showup. If a search for Gemologica is done on DMOZ, the following results appear:

Search: gemologica

Open Directory Categories (1-1 of 1)
Shopping: Jewelry: Varied Merchandise: C (1 match)

Open Directory Sites (1-1 of 1)

Gemologica - A selection of bracelets, earrings, necklaces and rings. Provides general information about stones and a glossary of helpful terms.
-- http://www.gemologica.com Shopping: Jewelry: Varied Merchandise: C (1)

My question is why would it be in Shopping: Jewelry: Varied Merchandise: C when the the first letter is G?

Thanks in advance for any explanation that can be offered.

It isn't listed, an editor accidentally published it when they meant to move it to G. It appears it was submitted to the C subcat at some point. It was accidentally published on September 6 and that editor noticed what he or she had done on the 7th and moved it to the correct subcat where it is still pending. Sorry to get your hopes up as nothing has changed.

Oh, boy. I had a feeling that it was too good to be true :(

Over the past year I have confirmed, on several different occasions, that it was listed properly in Shopping: Jewelry: Varied Merchandise: G. Does this now mean that it will go back to the top of the list? Also, was it approved and then just listed by mistake in Shopping: Jewelry: Varied Merchandise: C?

Thanks again

No, it was not approved because it was not reviewed. The listing was just the result of a mistake in moving it. There is no top or bottom to a pool of submissions, so as kokopeli stated, nothing is changed.

By my count, you were given an update in September, the 22nd to be exact. This means you are not eligible until after March 22.

See you then.

Status of site submitted 17 months ago

Hi,

I am in hopes of finding out the status of a site submitted 1 year and 5 months ago. Any information that can be provided other than the usual 'still pending' would be appreciated. Are there simply no editors in this category? Or is the editor a competitor that will not process the request?

Thanks in advance

It continues to await review.

The inappropriate submission of your mirror site has NOT helped.

The answer to the rest of your questions can be found in our FAQ.

Do not resubmit this site, and do not submit any mirror sites (fraternal or otherwise).

You may get another status check in six months.

...inappropriate submission of your mirror site has NOT helped? I do not have a mirror site, nor has ANY submission other than www.gemologica.com ever been submitted. Can you please expand on this?

Some day someone will study the psychology of submissions to DMOZ, and come up with a new symptom - which I would call conditional amnesia, perhaps

suggestesia, dmozexia

I find it incredible how many people in this forum forget what they submitted, and what sites they own.

bobrat: As previously stated, nothing other than www.gemologica.com was ever submitted by this company. If you have any other information to the contrary, why not provide it? Now, that would be helpful...

It was, but like pvgool I must zip my lips. - We don't discuss details.

If you have an SEO company or webmaster working for you - I suggest you discuss it with them.

We tend to be careless about terminology sometimes. Are there perhaps multiple sites, or perhaps alias URLs to the same site, presenting products from the same business?

If you'll give us a list of all the company's domain names, we can check them all.

hutcheson: Thanks for the response - we do not have this. Furthermore, we do not have an SEO company, or any other related company working for us. As stated, there was only one submission from this company ever. If there were any other submissions, it was not authorized by any company, or company-related official. Having said this, is there anyway to find out what is going on? Is there another forum where this should be asked, or another contact email? Thanks

The URL you e-mailed to me was indeed submitted by someone. It doesn't really matter where or when -- it was detected as a redirect or mirror and treated appropriately. But -- as indicated, it does leave a bad taste in editors' mouth. And, more importantly, it makes editors VERY careful about giving information to someone who might be trying to set up a multiple-listing scam.

We've seen worse, and I very much doubt it'll affect the eventual site review of the real URL.

So what you're saying is that anyone can sabotage a company's submission without any recourse?
