Sites can get listed anytime between before they submit (if an editor finds out about them some other way) to several years after submission. An editor is active in that category and so submissions tend to be reviewed relatively quickly. This one was nothing out of the way.

But what about the main point the site is a straight copy of another site can nothing be done about this?

#2382 - when I wrote 'dealt with', that meant that the mirror had been removed. We do not (knowingly) list mirrors. Changes may not show up immediately on the public side of the directory, but if you look at the category now, you should see the change.

I think that the blogger concentrate more on Ads to get his platinum card rather than having quality posts. The site not clean at all...

#2386 I agree that this weblog is heavily loaded with advertising. However we do not usually consider that in assessing a site. We mentally block out the advertising and consider the unique content. This site has enough unique content to attract a readership. In fact it seems to be the most popular site in the category (not that we take that into account.)

These sites were mainly listed some time ago, when they did contain content as per description. The Connaught Telegraph did not have its own site at the time.

The changes I have made may not appear immediately on the public side, but should be visible within a few hours, at most day or so.

By the way - we prefer people to give the title of the site (as shown in the ODP listing) rather than the listed url. It makes it easier to find.

#2394 - Why not just take the site down Kevin? I delisted it because it is out of date. We don't delist simply on request. But if a site is taken down, then the dead link should get picked up by link checkers eventually. I imagine the BBC has a link checker. We certainly do, as you know, though it doesn't run as often as we might like.

[Edited to add] Other editors might not agree with my decision to delist Robin McBryde's testimonial year. One of our Regional experts definitely doesn't agree, since it contains historical information on the player. So it could get relisted at some point!

I can take the site down - no problem there, the issue is more that although I need confirmation from Robin ( I donated the domain for his testimonial year) I'm currently not looking to renew the domain. It's got quite a lot of traffic still and is therefore a "potential" hijack candidate so I don't want it picked up and compromised due to popularity of the site. Re BBC having a link checker - it's not very efficient either, in some areas it's very out of date (being generous there).

Re historical information - most of the items there have been reproduced on other sites from his so they are still out there and the most interesting item - his retirement speach - has never been published and probably will just sit on my local box since It's been 9 months now since the "official retirement" from playing

Some Bangkok Questions...

In the category http://dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/Thailand/Provinces/Bangkok/, I see some possible problems.

Bangkok News.net is little more than a reworking of bignewsnetwork.com which is already listed many times.

bangkok.com - is primarily a hotel guide that just regurgitates data from another site called asiawebdirect.com

bangkoksite.com is also mainly a hotel reservation site with affiliations with precisionreservations.com (Great collection? - maybe, maybe not)

Metro Magazine - Why is every word in the description capitalized?
